Which iPad?

In 2010 the world was introduced to the infamous “iPad”. Since then we have been subjected to numerous changes and iterations - pretty much yearly.
Fast forward to 2018 and we now have 4 iPad sizes on the market each with their own gap to fill. Whilst options are nice, this leaves many consumers wondering which is right for them.
The four models that are current are the iPad Mini 4 7.9”, iPad 9.7” (6th Gen), iPad Pro 10.5” and iPad Pro 12.9”. Lets have a quick look at the what and why.
iPad Mini 7.9” is really only going to be your choice if smaller is better. This may be due to it fitting into your bag, mounting in confined spaces or possibly for small children. It will do most things the larger models will do (no Apple Pencil compatibility) but is smaller.
The iPad 9.7” 6th Gen is by far the most popular iPad. It is the cheapest iPad on the market and to date the most popular size. This is your everyday iPad and is now also compatible with the Apple Pencil. This is your school device, home iPad and in most business scenarios a great all rounder.
The iPad 10.5” is similar to your 9.7, but on steroids. Most things are a little bigger, better, faster (not stronger). This device is for the power user who pushes the performance of their device to the limits. Previously this was your entry point to the Apple Pencil, but with the recent introduction of the 9.7” 6th Gen this is no longer the case.
Finally we have the iPad Pro 12.9”. The big daddy of the iPad range with all of the bells and whistles, plus the size to match. This is commonly partnered with the Apple Keyboard and Pencil to give the user a very interactive experience rivalling the notebook user experience.
There are horses for courses and before you purchase your next device maybe consult your local Apple professionals for advice on the right fit for you.
