Pay & work-life balance. In this newsletter, I share data on which industries offer the best pay and work-life balance, whether you stay in consulting or leave.

Consulting is strange - why?
Most people start it with no intention of staying. I can think of no other industry like it. For the majority of folks, it's a means to an end - transferable skills, network, experiencing difference industries etc. And the pyramid structure of most firms forces most people to leave over time.
It's a blessing and a curse...
The blessing is that the transferable skills developed in consulting are so transferable. Almost every industry, company type / size (from startup to multinational to specialist consultancy to social enterprise) and function is open to you. As an example, 4,000+ organisations of all shapes and sizes hire for current & former consultants through movemeon.com.
So the curse is that you're spoilt for choice.
But how do you make the right choice?
100,000+ people got involved when I posed that question on LinkedIn. I was astonished at the appetite to join in the conversation. The main issue?
?? a lack of data when it comes to how your choice of industry, affects the things you care about most in your career - pay, work-life balance, job satisfaction etc.
So what did I do?
I collected data. From 1,000s of current & former consultants. I dusted my McKinsey BA hat off and crunched the numbers.
I've made it my mission to help everyone make a more informed choice
Whether that be leaving consulting, staying in consulting or progressing your career to more senior levels long after making that initial decision.
What's next?
More data. I've made a start. And you've got to start somewhere. I'm really grateful to everyone who participated and all the kind feedback I've had about the results.
For the next iteration my aim is to get 20,000 people to join in. Why?
