That Which Cannot Be Explained Will Be Feared!
From the dawn of civilization, humanity has feared what it does not understand.
We see this in ancient myths of vengeful gods, in whispered stories of ghosts that haunt the night, and in the primal terror that grips us in the darkness when our senses fail us.
The unknown has always been a source of fear.
Why?
Because where there is uncertainty, our minds fill in the gaps with worst-case scenarios.
Today, artificial intelligence stands at the threshold of this same cycle. We marvel at its capabilities while some of us look upon it with dread.
Why?
Because the inner workings of AI, particularly deep learning models, remain a black box even to those who build them.
We ask:
How does an AI generate a poem that moves us?
How does it predict outcomes with uncanny accuracy?
The more advanced AI becomes, the more it feels like magic.? It becomes an unknowable force that operates beyond our comprehension.
This fear is not new.
Throughout history, technological advancements have triggered waves of skepticism and concern.
The printing press, the steam engine, and the internet all disrupted the status quo, and each faced its share of resistance.
But unlike these examples, AI presents a unique challenge.
It doesn’t just automate tasks, it mimics human reasoning.
It can generates art, hold conversations, and make decisions in ways we cannot always predict or explain.
For some, this unpredictability is enough to stoke fear.
If we cannot explain AI, can we trust it?
If we do not understand its limitations, can we control it?
These are not irrational questions.
They are the same questions our ancestors asked when faced with forces beyond their comprehension.
And history has shown that fear, left unchecked, often leads to misplaced opposition, regulatory overreach, or outright rejection of innovation.
Yet fear does not have to be our response.
The way forward is not to retreat into the darkness but to step into the light of understanding.
AI is not a god to be worshiped nor a monster to be slain.
It is a tool.? One that is shaped by human hands, guided by human values, and constrained by human oversight.
We must strive to demystify it, to educate ourselves and others, and to ensure that AI’s development aligns with our shared ethical principles.
The unknown has always been frightening, but history also teaches us that the more we illuminate the mysteries before us, the less we fear them.
The challenge is not to resist AI out of fear, but to seek knowledge, governance, and responsibility in its application.
Because when we replace fear with understanding, we move from uncertainty to progress—and from darkness into light.
