Which bunch of C's are guiding your next vote?

Today I was lucky enough to facilitate a panel on climate change and democracy.

The speakers were excellent, the audience raised some great questions and some pressing thoughts lodged in my own mind on the pathway forward no matter who you/we vote for:

1. Where are the young people, the First Nations people and the missing middle and how do we engage them in democracy (and, more broadly in community)?
2. Are we talking about the things that those missing cohorts care about?
3. Do we get too carried away in our importance and processes forgetting that simple is good and
4. Are we even speaking the right language? And by language I'm talking about plain and simple words that reach the general public and land in a way that keeps everyone on board and informed.

C-bombs that I've no doubt this cohort would appreciate were thrown around throughout the event:

• change
• collaboration
• climate
• capacity building
• communication
• common sense
• Canberra and the need to keep things real and relevant outside our nation's capital and
• The carrot (thus the pic) or the stick - and what will work most effectively in climate change policy

Quite frankly, that's the bunch of C's that will be guiding my next vote aligned to candidate that can present the best aligned approach.
