??? The legendary Sony Group recently debuted ‘Soneium’: a new Ethereum layer-2 blockchain built on Optimism’s Superchain in partnership with Startale Labs. It seems Sony isn’t the only electronics titan involved with Startale Labs, as Samsung invested an undisclosed figure in the blockchain startup this week. We’ll be keeping a close eye on where the Soneium blockchain is deployed - but for now, Sony’s latest title Astro Bot remains blockchain-free.?

?? All eyes have been on Nintendo with rumors of a long-awaited Switch successor announcement expected in September. While we wait, Sui blockchain creator Mysten Labs and Mysten Labs have shared details of a new crypto gaming handheld, ‘SuiPlay0x1’. The handheld will offer “a wide range of PC games, as well as new AAA titles developed using Sui technology.” The SuiPlay0x1 costs $599, and the first 1000 pre-orders will gain an ‘Eternals NFT’, unlocking rewards that have not yet been announced.

?? ICYMI author Neal Stephenson - who first used the term ‘metaverse’ in his book Snow Crash - revealed a new metaverse called ‘Artefact’. The metaverse will be built on and serve as the flagship project for Stephenson’s Lamina1 blockchain. Artefact has also partnered with Wētā Workshop, a special effects company credited in recent releases such as Dune: Part Two, The Creator, and Rebel Moon. We can’t wait to explore the digital worlds being created.
