WHICH ARE THE BEST UNIVERSITIES TO STUDY LAW IN INDIA?

Law as a career option is growing in its popularity and increasing number of students are opting to pursue legal studies as their interest field. The following are the top colleges to study law in India:


NATIONAL LAW SCHOOL OF INDIA UNIVERSITY, BANGALORE

NLSIU, Bangalore was established in the year 1987 and was the first NLU to have been established. It has an experience-rich faculty and research mentors since there are several senior advocates and judges of High Court and Supreme Court who contribute immensely to the institute. It has India’s largest library for law which was built through the contributions of eminent personalities like Sudha Murthy, the Chairwoman of Infosys Foundation and the University Grant Commission, New Delhi. NLSIU is also the first institute that offered an integrated five-year course for law and social sciences.


CAMPUS LAW CENTER, UNIVERSITY OF DELHI

Campus Law Center was established in the year 1924 in Prince’s Pavilion, Old Viceregal Lodge Grounds before it shifted, in 1963, to where it is now which is Chhatra Marg, University of Delhi. It houses as many as 4000 students and 100 full-time faculties. From 35 judges in the High Court, 31 are from the Faculty of Law. There have been several changes in the timings of the various centers to the age-limit to the number of seats. There will be a marked reduction in the number of seats from 2310 to 1440 from the batch of 2017. These 1440 seats will be distributed among the three centers that come under the Faculty of Law of the University of Delhi. The reason for this reduction was inadequate infrastructure as claimed by the Bar Council of India.


NATIONAL ACADEMY OF LEGAL STUDIES AND RESEARCH UNIVERISTY, HYDERABAD

NALSAR, Hyderabad is one of the premium law schools in India and to be able to acquire admission to NALSAR is an achievement on its own. It was established in the year 1998 under the National Academy of Legal Studies and Research University Act of Andhra Pradesh State Legislature. The process of getting an admission into this institute is through qualifying CLAT. There are several initiatives that are started by the students and the alumni of the institute like Law School 101, CLATGyan etc.
