Whereto from here

Sitting in the studio pondering on whether I should continue with the internet radio journey or not. I realize it is tough for a person of colour to get sponsorships or financial help in South Africa. The fact that the station is still in operation after 4 years is a miracle in itself.

Whereto from here, I ask myself. I started this journey during Covid in the hopes that this might become an income stream. However, after numerous posts, talks and email attempts to get sponsorship I felt like giving up. With so many pop-up internet radio stations now coming to life in South Africa, do we even stand a chance on survival? With all the skills, knowledge and experience in the TV, Media & Radio sectors, I am dumbstruck and literally stuck.

Whereto from here? I realize that I cannot just give up on a dream. Financial constraints and struggles should not hold us back from pushing forward. The economy and circumstances we live in should not stop you from dreaming. Yes, we need the support from everyone in our circles, but I am sure help can be just a prayer away. The motivation should be to keep going. Motivating yourself to keep going is a challenge. With so many obligations, rent, water & electricity, school fees etc. etc. etc, one constantly wonders, is it all worth the risk. You have a family to look after financially, yet you pour money into a project that is not giving you a return on your investment yet. Whereto from here, I keep asking myself and the answer stays the same. Just keep going. Just keep doing what you do, someone will notice.

So to close this article, even if you don't know what is going to happen next, just keep going.
