Recently I attended an interesting and impactful workshop on board governance for our Surge Oak22 Cohort. Throughout the workshop I found myself wondering when is a good time or is it ever a good time to be on a board? Why do it? I was challenged by the phenomenal panel participants to get active in board service. Their argument, both compelling and community challenging, was something that spoke to my core. The values of interruption, decolonization, disruption and like John Lewis would say, get into some "Good Trouble" - with an organization that values what I value; with folx I want to build with.
