Where is your 'why'?
Feeling unmotivated on your first day back to work after the festive season? Are you feeling uninspired and more depleted now than before going on your break?
These are common feelings this time of year and everyone feels unmotivated at some stage.
One reminder that has made my return to work bearable is knowing my 'why'.
Where is your why?
Everyone's why is different and at times we can forget what our why is. Focus on bringing your thinking back to the reasons 'why' you love doing what you do.
Ask yourself;
What makes me truly happy?
What are my values?
What drives me?
What do I want to achieve over the next day/month/quarter/year?
Taking the time to reflect and figuring this out for yourself can provide you with the answers you need to get your motivation back!
Put in place small achievable goals and by taking simple steps, a very large change can occur very quickly. Everyone wants to get out of a career or job slump, and sometimes it takes a little push to start the change.
If however you have come up empty handed with re-discovering your 'why' in your current role, perhaps it's time to consider a career move or rethink your current situation. Only you can decide if you are heading in the right direction or if you need to take action to change your situation.
Even the best of us become unmotivated but it is necessary that we get back our drive to push forward to live our best lives.
Start 2020 with your 'why'.
