Where Is Your Version 1.0?

Where Is Your Version 1.0?

You have to start somewhere, so where is your version 1.0? You know the first version when you start something, the very first version of it? Have you started something and haven't ever released it to the world because you're afraid it wasn't perfect or wasn't quite ready yet? Or maybe you were worried about what people might think. Maybe you just thought about working on it a little bit more until it's just right. Well, think about this. No one and no creation anyone has ever made has been perfect, but you have to start somewhere.

This is a place where you can take a lesson from the software industry. You have to start somewhere. You have to have... Version 1.0.

Ponder this. Microsoft Word came out in 1989. Their version 1.0 went through four years, four renditions of 1.0 before it was successful. Finally, in 1990, Word became a huge commercial success. Then there was 2.0, 3.0, four, five, six, then there were the year versions, 95, 97, all the way up to the current version of 2016. And all of those versions started out from a not so perfect version 1.0. So where's your 1.0? Is it that book you've written but never published? Maybe that song you wrote that no one's ever heard? You know, that special talent that you have that no one's ever seen?

There are no failures, just versions. - A. Lee Judge

Don't worry about what people are going to say. Don't worry about getting it perfect... or even complete. In fact, you can almost judge your success by the number of people who criticize your work. So hey, once you've executed that plan or project or talent and you have a version 1.0... give birth to it! Release your version 1.0 and move on. And then, we'll talk about... version 2.

Hey, let's connect, I'm looking forward to seeing your version 1.0.

Oh, and leave a comment about your take on the subject.
