Where is your resume or CV?

We wanted to reach out today and ask all of you where your resume and CV are kept these days? Is it sitting in a dusty file to the side of your desk? Is it in a hard drive that is tucked away in a drawer somewhere or on an email sent to someone a few years back?

If you have not selected you are recruitable and you have not loaded a resume or CV into the application you will not be chosen as a suggested candidate, you are losing a valuable chance to be displayed to people that create jobs and are looking for people to actively fill roles.

It is a FREE service and the smart thing to do right now…

The state of the industry is very volatile at the moment and it pays to be prepared. You need to keep your resume and CV updated, what you do with them after you update them is why we are reaching out to you today.

Rig Lynx is a pure oil and gas social network, although we have a few positions that are in other industries, the majority of our followers and subscribers have everyday jobs, shift work or are looking to get back into the industry. This is the exact reason that Rig Lynx was created, to allow people to come together as a group and support each other. Think of us as a round table, where everyone sitting around that table is equal, we all serve a purpose and that is to help each other, now more than ever.

We have thousands of registered members and only 25% have loaded a resume or CV into their profile, why? Maybe it is the process, or you haven’t had time, or you may have simply forgotten to do it. There are many legacy members that have been with us for a few years that may not know the feature is there and able to be used.

Let me explain the process so we can all benefit from it now:

1.    Make sure you have the latest update for both iOS and Android, if not you can get them here

•  iOS Download
• Android Download

2.    Start the app

3.    Sign in

• If you have forgotten your credentials, please use the forgot password to get a new password right away
• If you need to change your email address or have lost access to your email completely then kindly email us at [email protected] to delete your profile and then you can simply create a new one.

4.    App will start up on the newsfeed

• If you are a new user, some things will have to be acknowledged before continuing
• If you are a legacy user, the newsfeed will appear

5.    Go to the top left of your screen and tap the 4 white lines

6.    Tap on General

7.    Tap on Edit

8.    Scroll down to:

• Add Resume or CV

b.    Change Resume (You will have this option if you have previously loaded one into the application and you would like to update it.

9.    Add your new resume or CV and tap Update at the bottom

10. Once it is updated it will return you to your profile screen

11. Tap on the left arrow at the top of the screen to return to the newsfeed

And that’s it… very simple… very efficient

If you are currently unemployed and looking for work, make sure to set your profile to recruitable:

1.    Start the app

2.    Go to the top left of your screen and tap the 4 white lines

3.    Tap on General

4.    Tap on Edit

5.    Scroll down to “Considered for recruitment”

6.    Tap on Yes, I am recruitable

• If you check yes, you will get an additional option that will appear just below that asks, “Would you like to discreet your profile?”
• This is if you are currently employed, looking to make a change and don’t want your current employer to see that you are actively looking

7.    Tap on Update at the bottom of the screen

8.    Once it is updated it will return you to your profile screen

9.    Tap on the left arrow at the top of the screen to return to the newsfeed

While you are in this set of screens it helps to completely fill out your profile with all of your education and employment history, although not required.

Let me explain what this does for anyone that has any questions about what happens after you have followed the above process.

Once you have selected you are recruitable and your profile is not on discreet your profile badge will change from a green chain link to a yellow magnifying glass indicating you are looking for work. This is to allow recruiters and other people to notice you are looking for work as they browse the newsfeed or see your profile.

With your resume and CV now loaded into the system, we have the Job Foundry, this is the menu option on the far right bottom of your newsfeed screen that allows anyone to create a job and look for candidates or allow anyone to browse the current open jobs and apply.

The Job Foundry will now display your profile with the resume or CV attached and have it ready to display to recruiters or people that create future jobs and anyone looking for future candidates. Your profile will also be raised to the top of the list above people that are actively employed. When a job is created, the person creating the job will be given a list of suggested candidates and depending on your position and settings your profile may be one of these that are picked by the algorithm.

We want people back to work as soon as possible but again, without following the above set of instructions your profile is losing visibility in the Job Foundry, so get in there, get it loaded into the system and get recruited when the jobs are created.

Nothing can hurt taking advantage of a free resource at the moment, but it will hurt if a job is created and you are not visible in the application.
