Where are you shining your flashlight?

‘My head feels all over the place’ he said.
‘All these ideas coming to me, I want to implement them all, and I’ve got all these decisions to make, I don’t know what direction to go in.’
‘I just don’t know if I’m cut out for doing this.’
I was speaking to a business leader who inspired me this week.
His drive for entrepreneurial success had been causing impatience, frustration, and overwhelm and that wasn't for the best of his inner peace, happiness, and fulfilment.
A highly intelligent, competent and strong-minded leader who leads the field in what he does.
But he was getting in his own way.
He deeply knows that there was something greater that lied within him to transform to the next level of his life and business.
Can you relate?
I’ve certainly been there and caught myself getting in my own way.
More specifically, it’s our thinking that gets in the way of the innate infinite power that lies within us.
Even more specifically, it’s not thinking, it’s the lack of raising our level of consciousness and practice of focusing our attention.
Just like being in a dark room, wherever you shine your flashlight is what you see.
Without consciously being in control of where we shine this light of attention, we react to life.
We react to our thoughts, to other people, to situations at work.
The more we are aware of where our attention is going, the more we slow down, raise awareness, and open the gap from stimulus and response, the greater our ability to consciously create.
We can create our inner environment. Which then leads to creating deeper relationships, greater clarity, and other outcomes we desire in life and business.
