Where Are You In The BAT-ting Order?

Where Are You In The BAT-ting Order?

One of the most important accomplishments of my life is how I’ve worked with people around me to develop and refine their mindset. I call it paying attention to your personal BAT-ting average. BAT stands for Behavior, Attitude and Technique. Here are three things to stay in touch with daily and are often the difference between success and failure.

Behavior – Are you behaving and thinking in a way that will lead to accomplishing your goals? Winners don’t dwell on failures or what bad thing can happen. Failures are often used to launch yourself forward and so often bad things are just a definition. I once heard someone tell me they were afraid to make more money because they would pay more in taxes. Bring on the additional taxes!

Attitude – How did you start your day? If it started with the NEWS or some on the crap on Social Media things are likely to go poorly and your attitude with SUCK as a result. Stop it! Winner read things that feed their brain and reap the results. For the last couple of week’s I have started my day by reading $100M Offers… How To Make Offers So Good People Feel Stupid Saying No.” Yes, this sets my tone for the day and week ahead.

Technique – There is a technique behind everything we do. If you aren’t practicing what you do, you aren’t serious about it. Tom Brady was known for taking two weeks off after a season, including a season where he won the Super Bowl and then returning to work. Refining and practicing matters and you go the bank more often with practice.

Many of us grew up learning how to be average. We were taught how to live normally, hold a normal job and how to fit in. My dad told me when I was young to fit in and to stay in the middle and live what he called a normal life. My father also told me I wasn’t smart enough to go to college. That’s a great way to assure a normal life. Not what I wanted. Normal is boring as hell to me. I left home at the end of my junior year of high school… I knew staying home wouldn’t work for me. I wanted extraordinary and I wanted it all. When I was seven, I got into trouble for asking adults who were driving nice cars and living in nice homes what they did for a living and how much money they made. Seemed important to me. I had to know what these people did that made them different.

I learned it’s the little things that bleed over to the big things. How you do anything is how you do everything. I picked up after myself, pushed my chair in, cleaned up small messes not of my making and other seemingly small things others ignored. Too many people don’t even throw their own trash away after eating at a fast-food place. If you are one of the few you are already above average. I would say that your personal BAT-ting average exists within this behavior. Develop yourself and watch the character of those around you develop too.
