Where there is a woman, there is magic
As the CEO and the MD of Relon Limited; amongst many others, one of my aim aspirations was to provide the womenfolk a better world to live in.
For very long, the country in which are born and live in; has been extremely prejudiced against fairer and weaker sex. Male domination and chauvinism have been very rampant evils in our society. Women have always been told that they have their place was only in the kitchen and bedrooms. Women have been tormented and agonized and have been made to believe that they are worthy of nothing.
The times are changing and in the urban areas of the country; mindsets too have seen a very minuscule change. People are now educating their daughters; but also preach to them all the time that their families take precedence over education and jobs.
When their girls are married; an implicit promise is extracted from them that they would put their husbands and in-laws above themselves and go to work only if their marital families permit them to or if there is need for them support the family financially. A girl’s aspirations and preferences are almost always brushed under the carpet.
This is the prevailing scenario in the urban areas. In the villages; the birth of a girl child is always a gloomy affair. At every juncture of their lives; they are told that their brothers, fathers, uncles, husband and the male members of their marital homes are superior to them.
This has always affected me and my psyche since the time I was a young boy. During my days as a student; I have often observed that the girls of my class were as bright; if not more than their counterparts. When I started my career as an employee; the same held true for my female colleagues. If at all anything was a deterring factor; it was the lack of opportunities and support being extended to the womankind.
I resolved very early that I would do my little bit to turn tables in the favor of women; however small and tiny my effort was. When I started my journey with Relon; I was elated that its product is one that caters mainly to the ladies of any household. Rakshak Gas Guard is a product designed to safeguard lives and prevent accidents that occur in the kitchen due to gas leaks and cylinder blasts. And as I said before and something that we all know; majority of the cooking in India is done by women.
I now aspire to make this product reach the remotest corners of the country and secure the lives of rural women too as my company has been doing for their urban sisters. I am ably being supported by Shri Narender Modi’s Ujjwala scheme that aims at penetrating and making LPG accessible across the country.
When I opened my office in New Delhi this year, post the lock down; I again had an illustrious plan in place. The lockdown had caused mass unemployment. I now wanted to provide employment opportunities to as many women as I could. I have always believed in the fact that women are very committed workers; whether it is in their familial setup or whether at their workplaces. I knew hiring ladies would be a win-win situation for both of us. And so was my resolve. And to be very honest; I have been very satisfied with the ladies who have since joined the Relon family.
Women constitute half of the world and its population and yet society has not been very fair to them. It is only when we accept the fact men and women constitute a whole and without each other; each is incomplete without the other, would be the time when we would be moving to our happy space. Afterall, in the end happiness is all the matters!
