Where were you when the internet went down??Where were you when the?tree in the yard fell??Where were you when the power went out??These are the most commented on questions in my neck of the woods for the last day or two.??When storms come and bring severe results, there are many questions like these and others.?Do you have a generator??Do you own a chain saw???What have you heard about power restoration??And on and on it goes. The world continues and it was business as much as usual as possible yesterday.?As I drove around to complete some appointments, I saw the physical evidence of the raging storms of this week.?We had a tree come down and fortunately for us, ?these was minimal damage, just a lot of clean up. Is there another storm coming in the business world? As the news of a Covid deviant spreads and the questions arise, I wonder how many businesses are preparing for a future situation similar to 2020.?What I observe is that companies and business are so involved with survival , which I totally understand, ?looking ahead is difficult to do.??As a consultant I take the temperature of the company now to assist in being prepared for a future event.?Statistics indicate that 60% of employees are looking for a different job.?There are many reasons. ?Investigate to understand where the disconnect is between the company or business and the staff.?Where are the power outages that can be fixed before the emergency arrives .?Ask the questions?to determine your readiness before the emergency arrives. Questions to consider: What makes this a good place to work? What can we do better? How can you help make this a better place to be?
