Where Were The Adults...?
James M Hardin
Effective September 1. 2024 I have taken on the position of Network Director for Trump - Vance 2024!
I listended to the GOP presidential debate Wednesday, August 23 on 760 AM (Detroit) after not being able to find it on TV as I do not have cable.
Almost from the start the moderators lost complete control of the situation. The candidates were allowed to talk over and interrupt each other. Issues covered were abortion, immigration and Donald Trump. Why have the first debate all about the issues that the Democrats think they can beat us on? The entire two hours was like watching a multi-car pile up on I-75 in slow motion and not being able to do anything about it. And the entire time it was all about what the Liberals wanted us to talk about. You cannot win the hearts, minds of the electorate and thus the primaries and general election when you focus on the issues that the opposition wants you to focus on. You win hearts, minds and elections by focusing on the issues that are important to the electorate. These include cutting taxes, reducing spending, creating good paying jobs, paying off the debt, reducing the deficit, balancing the budget, cutting size, cost of the federal government. To paraphrase Gov. John Engler it is all about jobs, jobs, jobs. And yes, thank you Bill Clinton, it is about the economy!
And, yes there were two adults in the room. I am not referring to the moderators. The adults in the room were US Sen. Tim Scott and Former Arkansas Governor Asa Hutchinson. During their allotted time of answering direct questions and rebuttal of other candidate's responses, Scott and Hutchinson were direct, polite, imformative. In other words, they both acted and came across as presidential.
