Where we are with SteelTrace

It’s been a while since we wrote about our developments within SteelTrace. Launching a SaaS business takes hard work and determination. It’s been hectic, frustrating from time to time, but also very rewarding months. We’ve really picked up pace and traction with SteelTrace and are convinced we’re on the right track.

What we are building

To refresh everyone’s memory: SteelTrace has a mission to make fraud with steel and metals a thing of the past. We do that by introducing a platform on which all companies in the steel supply chain steel can manage all certificate related product data safely and irrefutably. The current system is flawed as it is based on the transfer of pdf or even printed documents that are easily to be tampered with and provide hardly any security. Besides that it always needs humans to review. The SteelTrace platform makes use of blockchain technology that enables us to ensure full security. Fraud, counterfeiting and false claims are eliminated which is a big step forward for an industry that struggles with the effects of counterfeiting every day. We also make automatic checking possible by digitizing specs and matching it with the certificates data.

The interest for our platform has been overwhelming, we receive support from industry leaders and get requests from all over the world. People believe that we might be on the path to solving a major problem in the industry. With our development team working on full speed, we’ll be able to go live soon and start working on solving this problem.

New partner

We’re also proud to inform you of the fact that Costa Giardina joined us as a partner in SteelTrace. Costa owns and runs a successful company in the petro-chemical industry for over 30 years. With his network and market knowledge we’ll be able to accelerate our progress even more.

Pilots

Next to the continuous development of our platform with our dev team in view of going fully live soon, we’re in the midst of a couple of paid pilots with major players in the industry. These pilots are a massive learning experience and made us even more convinced of the potential of the platform and that we’re on the right track. The participating companies are able to get a clear view on how the platform works and asses its benefits compared to current system. We trust that our pilot partners will not only become loyal customers, but will become true advocates of our product.

Beta Live

Our dev team has been working frantically and we’ve accelerated so much that we’ve pushed our timeline and actually moved into beta live modus. Currently we are already in the private beta stage where some of our current pilot customers get a chance to deep-dive into the functionalities of the platform. This private beta period has two goals for us:

1. Technical: to have a sanity check on our platform and code, and 
2. Usability: Get necessary feedback on and usability and options.

After our private beta live, we’ll be moving into ‘regular’ beta.  Registration will be opened for all interested parties and the sign-in possibility is now available at the SteelTrace website. 

The application which users need to have for using the functionalities of the platform will also be available for free download soon, both in the Apple Store as in Google Play Store.

With this accelerated development, we’ve managed to knock almost 8 months of our go-to-market strategy and while we continue developing and perfecting our platform, we’re now starting to actually onboard customers.
