Where Should I Be Spending My Time As A Business Owner?

Being as business owner can often mean that your role is filled with an eclectic mix of work which can lead to confusion around where you should actually be spending your time.

It’s fair to say that your business was born out of passion and belief. However, if your workload doesn’t focus on the areas where you should be committing time, then burnout and a loss of love will occur.

As a business owner your ultimate goal should be to work on your business, not in it.

Here are three areas of focus you should be investing time in to in order to ensure your business and personal goals are ticking all of the boxes.

1.    My Business Strategy

Firstly, you are going to need a good business strategy. One that will give you with an accurate vision of where your business will be in 3 to 5 years’ time. To create a great= strategy it is imperative that you outline your business goals. This will help you meet your business objectives each day.

My Tip - A well thought out business strategy is one that factors in both long and short term goals, so don’t get caught up in the big vision, it will come, but you need to set day to day goals for your business too, it’s the little victories that accumulate in to big outcomes.

2.    Leadership

With ownership come leadership. Healthy relationships with your team and connections will create belief and trust. A true leader is one that is not afraid to roll up their sleeves when required, but also knows when to trust their team to deliver outcomes based on the standards required.

My Tip – Trust is everything. Don’t get pulled back in by requiring everything needs your approval. Delegate to other leaders within your team and allow them to share the burden of responsibilities.

 3.    Measuring Success & Tracking Goals

Success measurement is an extremely important function you should be spending your time on. The future of your business relies upon it. Review your bsuienss strategy and make sure that you are meeting your goals and look for where improvements can be made.

My Tip – Revert back to your leadership skills and strive for improvement. Create positivity throughout your team, consider and implement their input allowing them to drive what they believe.
