Where to Sell 1st ??
My 2 Cents ??
I think there are many ways to start and find success selling online. Some of the most important factors to determine where you should sell first include:
Depending on the above factors, setting up on the correct marketplace increases the likelihood of success. For example, my Hangstr product was primed to be sold on Amazon first. However - the state of the product, that it’s mostly handmade and eco-friendly lends itself better to another marketplace.
Let’s take a closer look at a few different sales channel options.
Etsy
Product Characteristics: crafty, handmade, customizable
Branding Angle: vintage, artistic, timeless
Marketing Scheme: fewer creative requirements, Pinterest ads
Past Experience: handmade crafts and customization
If you see yourself as an artist or one that likes to build things, this may be your marketplace of choice. Demographics that shop on Etsy also tend to spend time on Pinterest. This is one of the most underrated social media platforms to advertise on.
Amazon
Product Characteristics: unique, differentiator, less saturated niche

Marketing Scheme: brand registry - PPC, store front, more creative assets required
Past Experience: seller central experience is helpful
Another decision to make is whether to sell FBM (fulfilled by merchant) or FBA (fulfilled by Amazon). Referral fees can be expensive, so keep an eye on margins - especially at the start.
Shopify/WooCommerce
Product Characteristics: varies
Branding Angle: bigger focus on brand than unique product
Marketing Scheme: lots of creative work, ads across popular socials, content through IG , TikTok , etc.
Past Experience: content creation and marketing extremely useful
Brand building is key when selling on your own website and may be a more long term build than other sales outlets. However, I believe it provides the most upside and brand potential.
