If you’ve been to MozFest over the years, there is a good chance you have run into Mark Boas . Facilitator, Wrangler, Collaborator, Participant - he takes full advantage of what the community has to offer. And it has paid off.

By demoing his most notable project, Hyperaudio, at the MozFest Science Fair, he was able to get some great feedback and, more importantly, encouragement and support from the MozFest community. He also received a 2012 Knight-Mozilla OpenNews fellowship, which provided the opportunity to apply Hyperaudio-based technology in the newsroom – the most notable example being Palestine Remix for Al Jazeera.

Also thanks to MozFest, Mark co-founded and was CTO of a business called Trint. He met his co-founder –?a journalist –? at MozFest! That business, also based upon Hyperaudio technology, grew to become a company with over 100 employees.

As an autistic person that often finds oral communication stressful, Sara Peeters expected to hang back quietly at MozFest. Little did she know that her plan was going to backfire in the best of ways!

MozFest was more comfortable for her than she expected it to be for someone who is autistic. She ended up having quite a few conversations, which bolstered her self confidence in so many aspects of her life. She not only facilitated a session on sketchnoting, she turned her entire MozFest experience into an e-zine!
