Where I came from...
Now in the sunset days of my career, I have been reflecting a lot on how my experiences aligned to draw me ever deeper into a commitment to higher education and student affairs. The fortuitous part of this is that I've been asked to do podcasts reflecting on my experience, which has encouraged me to examine how this all happened. I was recently interviewed by Keith Edwards for Student Affairs Now, the result of which was a walk down memory lane of how my CSU undergraduate and masters years contributed to starting my career at the University of Maryland and the unfolding path from there. I am full of gratitude for all the experiences I've had and all the people who I've encountered and who helped me learn throughout these years. I can't say that there hasn't been an occasional challenge but the sum total of my career experience has been incredible.

1 年I sang in the Eugene Concert Choir until last year when I gave it up because it became physically difficult (88 years young). I still sing in the Eugene Symphony Chorus. This year we performed Ravel’s Daphne and Chloe and will sing Mahler’s 2nd Symphony (Resurrection) in May.

1 年I also was an undergraduate music major and taught school music for 8 years. Then became a school guidance director. It was these experiences that gave me the foundation from which I launched a career in higher education student affairs and services. Now I have moved back to singing in community choirs and am loving it.
