Breaking Barriers in Medicine and Innovation
Getting into a premier institute like JIPMER for Senior Residency (SR) was one of the most challenging yet defining moments of my career. The competition was fierce, and only those with exceptional skill made the cut. But my journey didn't stop there—I went on to secure highly competitive fellowships in the United States, training at some of the world's most renowned institutions, considered the Meccas of advanced medical education.
These experiences shaped me profoundly and set the stage for a career filled with milestones and impactful contributions. Achieving so much within a relatively short period required relentless focus, resilience, and a clear vision.
The Rare Intersection of Medicine, Innovation, and Mentorship
Becoming a successful medical practitioner, innovator, and mentor is no easy feat. Few individuals are able to seamlessly balance these roles while also nurturing talent and guiding esteemed institutions. It requires not just expertise but also the mindset and dedication to foster innovation and support emerging talent. I take immense pride in being part of this rare group and contributing meaningfully to the advancement of healthcare.
Innovating for Affordable and Scalable Healthcare Solutions
As a doctor, my ultimate goal has always been to leverage my medical knowledge to develop solutions and devices that reduce healthcare costs and make care accessible to the masses.
One of my innovations is the Wireless Video Laryngoscope, a patent-protected device that is the first of its kind in the world. What makes it truly revolutionary is its affordability—it costs nearly one-eighth of inferior international brands while offering superior features. This innovation has the potential to make airway management safer and more accessible globally.

Another significant project was a Disinfection Unit that had the potential to reduce costs by over one crore rupees. However, I made the conscious decision to bury the project because I refused to succumb to the "commission mentality" prevalent in the market. My ethical stance has always been clear—I will never compromise on integrity, even if it means walking away from a lucrative opportunity.
Mentoring the Next Generation of Innovators
When the Atal Innovation Mission (AIM) was launched, I was privileged to be one of the handful first chosen as a National Mentor. Along with a few other pioneers, the foundation for a mentorship program that has become the backbone of countless start-up ventures was laid. Seeing this initiative flourish today is deeply gratifying.
Now, I focus on helping institutes of repute bring ideas to reality. By guiding them through the complexities of healthcare innovation, I ensure that the solutions and products developed are both affordable and scalable, ultimately benefiting society at large.
Ethics and Integrity: The Cornerstones of Healthcare
Whether it is providing direct care to patients or developing healthcare solutions, I firmly believe that one must always be true, honest, and ethical. Healthcare is a sacred field, and compromising on ethics is simply not an option.
If India is to become a true superpower, healthcare needs to be the main focus. Only by prioritizing the health and well-being of our people can we achieve sustainable growth and global leadership.
With the blessings of my elders, patients, Guru, and God, I strive to make healthcare accessible, affordable, and ethical for all.
