Where has that "Golden Ticket"? gone?

Where has that "Golden Ticket" gone?

Many of us who attended college a few decades ago were told that a college education was the "Golden Ticket" to a great career, a great income, a great lifestyle. Today, most college students have discovered that the "Golden Ticket" theory is no longer true. They are wondering "where has that 'Golden Ticket' gone, because it's certainly not attached to MY college education!"

College students are seriously looking at where they can make a living-income now, instead of taking on exorbitant college debt and paying it off for years to come. HERE'S WHY:

50% of college grads never get a job in their field of study.

25% of college graduates make less than $30K a year.

These two statistics alone should make college an unrealistic option for many savvy young adults and their parents. But there's more:

The majority of college tuition goes solely to pay the PENSIONS of retired college staff and dilapidated buildings, instead of toward educating students who are expecting a brighter future in exchange for their choice to incur debt with the college. Boomer-pensions are destroying your college student's financial future! That "Golden Ticket" has been demolished and is no longer linked to a college education. What IS linked to a college education is exorbitant, impossible-to-pay-off, future-killing debt.

College students are being told that their debt will be erased by their government within just a few short years. This is not grounded in reality. It's been promised for almost a decade now, and hasn't happened. It's not going to happen. Yet, year after year, college students (and their parents) allow themselves to go into absurd amounts of accumulated college debt that will keep them in debt for decades to come, all while making the excuse that the education will lead to that "Golden Ticket."

My advice?

Don't play the college-debt game. Simply walk away and don't participate.

Take the franchise ownership path instead.

With so many franchises providing training and education - which amounts to the equivalent of an MBA (all while making a living income) - why even consider a college path? We all have witnessed that college leads to debt and no guarantee of a job, or a career. Why keep going back to that trough? (remember: 50% of grads don't get a career in their area of study! What are they doing? Making under 30K/year!)

Franchises not only provide training and education, they provide support through opening day, day-to-day operations, ongoing education and training, and personal coaches throughout ownership.

Many franchises are up and running within a few months (not after 4-5 years of college-time). Some franchises have contracts with clientele all set up before training is over. Some have national accounts that can be accessed so an owner can start earning on day-1!

When you train with a franchise you already know that there is a demand for your services and skills in your community. You have data that gives you an accurate expectation of income for your first, second, and ongoing years. You have mentors and colleagues who want you to succeed and who DO CARE that you thrive in your business.

And, most franchises cost much less than a 5-year stint in some debt-building, under-promising college.

You, or your adult college-aged child, could start earning immediately after a few weeks of training in a franchised business. A respected career can be built within a few month's time.

Plus:

Every penny spent to own, train, open, and run a franchise is accounted for.

Earnings are far higher than 30K/year

You, as the owner are trained for the business that IS going to OPEN in just a few weeks. (forget that 50% statistic of not going into your field of study! You invest in a franchise knowing that you own a territory that is waiting for you to open and provide services. The business - and money - is on the table for the taking when you open!)

Certain franchises are reporting that they are seeing no ceiling to their income earnings. Franchises are booming, especially throughout, and after the pandemic. Others know that the hard data shows that they will break even within a few short months. This is where the "Golden Ticket" has gone: The "Golden Ticket has gone to the business owners who invest in a system that is proven successful, works for anyone who follows the system, and to those franchise owners who work hard to build a business for themselves and their family. Does a college provide results like this? Of course not! They know that a college education is not designed to provide a "Golden Ticket." Their own data reveals that 25% of their graduates make less per year than one year of their college tuition!

To Conclude: More families and students are taking a harder look at whether college is worth the risk of taking on the enormous debt of years of accumulated college loans. College is no longer viewed as an investment in the future, but rather, a long-term debt for an indefinite future. Some families and students are looking at alternatives to taking on college debt. They are taking a serious look at investing in a franchise: to own a business that generates a respectable income in just a few short months while providing education, training and ongoing support. A business where the owner creates the culture, the owner builds their team, the owner contributes to the community, the owner is indebted to no one and nothing except their own aspirations.

I work with people who have the aspiration of owning and thriving. My services are at no cost and I'm always happy to talk to the curious as well as those who are frustrated, beaten down, demoralized or disillusioned with corporate's (or colleges') false promises. There's a business you can own through which you can achieve your goals and aspirations. All it takes to learn about your possible alternatives is one conversation to learn more. 630-779-1573

Those are some devistating stats, Gloria Spielman. I often encourage young people to expand their search in finding the right path for them. What would it take to set up a franchise? I always thought it was quite expensive to buy into.
