Where to focus for business success ? (Entrepreneur Basicz)

We are often told: you have to be on top of all aspects of your business to be successful ... As a business owner sometimes you feel you HAVE to be focused on everything, all the time ... which is exhausting, draining and more importantly probably impossible

(1) Key drivers

A more practical statement if it seems to be

Given that you need to be moving all aspects of your business forward .. therefore in any given period (month or maybe fortnight) you need to be pushing each of the key drivers of your business

- cash flow

- marketing

- sales

- delivery

- customer satisfaction

(2) The urgency of the here and now

Then there is the urgency of there and now ... the customer in front of you etc. Which means you need to mix a short term, medium term and long term focus .. constantly

And when we are building our businesses what that usually translates into is an increasingly intense focus on the here and now, the short term, the next prospect, the next payment into our business. This is good as it keeps us in "the game" today and tomorrow ... but it doesn’t always equate with aiding us in growing our business for next month or next year.

(3) Balance of focus

We see this especially in markets, sales and delivery (customer satisfaction)

We focus on prospects, prospects, prospects

We forget the stage before that - marketing - which is creating the queue of prospects (ie the interest our business)

  • and the customer satisfaction (which helps ensure that customer pay us (we all need cash) and
  • that our existing customers become our new advocates and talk about our business to others

The easiest way to maintain a balance in our focus is have some kind of accountability forum - a Support group and or a coach and or a mastermind and or an accountability partner .. some of these assist us to stay focused (and that we don’t feel alone)

Take action: (1) find an accountability forum that works for you and participate (2) make sure part of your month is spent on medium term focuses (once a week - on marketing and customer satisfaction) and (3) some of your month - half a day once a month ? - is spent on long term issues (for example how are ensuring we will be even more successful in business next year as well

Hey?Paul Ashley Jensen, you can take off some of the load and automate the process, by deploying chatbots on your website. They become the interface for you and your customers, with the chatbot offering them information whenever they want and you get the flexibility to go and talk to your customers whenever you're available.
