April 2019
April 16, 2019: Training Learning and Development Community (TLDC), online via Crowdcast
I am now part of the hosting crew at TLDC and my shows will focus on learning technologies. I'm thrilled to announce my first show in the series will feature guest Melissa Milloway chatting about how she used Abobe XD in her design process. This is not be missed!! Also if you'd like to a sneak peek of how Mel presents for TLDC. Mel Milloway shared one of her xAPI projects last year here:
April 17, 2019: Best of DemoFest webinar, The eLearning Guild, online via The eLearning Guild's website
I still cannot believe I won this year's DemoFest Best of Show (Non-vendor) with my friend Sean Hickey. Because we won, we will be featured on the Guild's Best of webinar. Tune in to learn the background of Multiple-Choice Mayhem and how we built it.
April 18, 2019: PressED conference, online via Twitter
This is a conference about Wordpress that takes place on Twitter. Each session at the conference is based on 10-15 tweets in a fifteen minute period. You can take part by following the hashtag (#pressedconf19) for the day – or at any time after the conference has happened. I have a super early session, starting at 6:15AM EDT but I'm super excited to share how I use LearnDash via Wordpress and tips to get you started. There are a lot of great sessions scheduled and I know I'll be watching this one and seeing what I can take away from it!
April 27, 2019: Ohio University Educational Technology Conference, Athens, Ohio
This is the 3rd year I've presented at this conference and it's still one of my favorites. It's free, the weather is usually perfect, and I get to see how other PhD studies approaching scholarship. This year for the first time I have two presentations. One with my PhD hat on, the other with my ID hat on.
The first presentation is Exploring Instructional Design Challenges to Enhance Practitioner Performance. This presentation is based on my research from last year around my 6 week instructional design challenge. If you hop over to Twitter, you can find some examples of what people created using the hashtag #id6wc
The second presentation is the second run of my higher education version of The Adventure of the Disengaged Learner. The corporate L&D version of this presentation got rave reviews at the Training Learning and Development Conference in January 2019 and I want it to have the same impact for higher ed. Brace yourselves though, this is not for the faint of heart.
May 2019
May 16, 2019: The Ohio State University Innovate Conference, Columbus, Ohio
If you are within driving distance of Columbus, Ohio please register for this conference. Seriously it is worth it (and it's FREE!). This is also the third year I've presented at Innovate and this year I also have 2 sessions.
My first session is with Sean Hickey and Karen Bruce Wallace called Choose Your Own Experience: Creating Interactive Learning Experiences. Again, not to spoil too much but this session will put YOU in the driver's seat of the learning experience. We also built three examples using presentation software, eLearning authoring tools, and video to meet you at your technical acumen so you can create your own experiences in your learning.
My second session is a panel discussion moderated by Ana-Paula Correia and Rick Voithofer focusing on what it is like being an online student. This should be a great session too because my glue Anna Leach is coming in for it :) <3
May 19-22, 2019: The Association for Talent and Development (ATD) International Conference and Expo (ICE), Washington, DC
While I'm not presenting at ATD ICE, you can find me on Chapter Leader Day on Sunday and Monday & Tuesday serving as day manager for a group of volunteers. Thanks Josh for putting in a good word for me!
June 2019
June 10-13, 2019: Learning DevCamp, Salt Lake City, Utah
Again third year attending, second year presenting. This year I have two sessions, one build it session showing you how to use Tableau to create pretty data visualizations & the second with Alan Natachu focusing on how to use your Google apps like a boss! If you haven't been to this conference, I can't recommend it enough!
That's it for now. You can still find me daily here on LinkedIn and Twitter. I want to hear what cool stuff you are doing! Share in the comments below!
