Where to Find the ALFED Team at UK Metals Expo!
Aluminium Federation (ALFED)
The voice of the UK aluminium industry, let's connect!
There’s just 5 days to go until UK Metals Expo kicks off again in Hall 12 at the NEC, Birmingham. Being the leading event that brings the entire UK metals supply chain together, the 2024 show is set to be bigger and better than last. The expo is an annual, free-to-attend event that aims to foster relationships and maximise opportunities across the metals supply chains, advance education, share best practices, and drive innovation in the industry, position the metals industry in the circular economy, and to showcase top solutions across the supply chain.
A look back to the 2023 show for the UK Aluminium Federation (ALFED)!
UK Metals Expo was a great success for the ALFED team in 2023. More than 300 stand visitors across the two days, and more than 20 fellow exhibiting members to catch up and network with was a key highlight. Team ALFED also hosted our own ‘Meet the Aluminium Industry’ networking drinks event at the end of Day 1 at the expert, which proved to be a great opportunity to meet the ALFED team and other industry representatives, as delegates enjoyed a refreshing English Garden cocktail from a 100% recycled aluminium can after a hard day’s work at the show. Members of the ALFED team, including Nadine Bloxsome and Jan Lukaszewski were also active participants in various panel discussions throughout the show, providing key insights into vital issues and challenges facing our sector.
Where can you find the ALFED team next week?

Aluminium is often overlooked in construction despite its numerous advantages due to several factors. Cost misconceptions lead to the perception that aluminium is more expensive than materials like steel or concrete, overshadowing its long-term cost benefits from durability and low maintenance. A lack of awareness about aluminium’s full range of benefits among architects, builders, and specifiers results in a preference for traditional materials.
The construction industry’s inertia and reliance on familiar practices also hinder the adoption of aluminium. Additionally, without clear and consistent specifications, aluminium’s use can lead to variability in quality and performance, deterring its application in critical areas. Limited high-profile case studies further contribute to the reluctance in adopting aluminium. This session aims to address these misconceptions and highlight how aluminium can be a game-changer in the construction industry.
