We meet in the Stutgart Bad Connstantt city museum in Dilay Ibis’s first exhebition. In a small room there are sweet drawings of every day scenes: Flowers, a soccer ball, ice cream ect. All bestwo local fresh beauty on the envieronment. They present life in western country in the twenty first century.
Her grandfather’s home land? is presented on a small self: An oriental rug like, a Turkish special beigel with white sesamin on it, turkish drings and a round photo of the artist as a kid playing with the bagel on her face.
“ My aim in this exhibition is to show the bridge between the cultures. “Visitors that their grandparents arrived from the Balkan and Greece came to me and told me they appreciate my approach. I could express what their hearts”
Ibis named her exhibition Made in Alemania—Made in Germany in honor of her grandfather and his friends, who came and helped build a country. Now, their voices live on in short video recordings.
When asked to pose for a photo beside a piece that holds special meaning for her, she chose the drawing of a d?ner counter. "Here, I merged the past and present," she explained. "A customer in a Nazi uniform stands alongside a Turkish d?ner specialist."
