Where does inspiration take flight? At the World Aviation Festival 2023
With the World Aviation Festival 2023 less than a month away, I can’t help but think back to last year’s edition. Touted as the most successful edition, it was attended by over three thousand senior executives from across leading airlines and airports driving the industry forward and the travel tech companies empowering their journey.
?
While the event took place over the course of three days, the discussions spurred inspiration that lasted well beyond. I was on my way back from Amsterdam, but I was reliving it all in my mind.
?
As the plane took off, I looked out of the window, toward the infinite skies. Clouds as far as the eye could see. And this got me thinking. Thinking of how cloud technology has become the very fabric on which we build the future of industry. However, when it came to the aviation sector, and its modernization, there weren’t many cloud-based tools that were tailored to its unique requirements.
?
I was going to be on the plane for another eight hours, at the very least. So, I decided to strike up a conversation with the person seated next to me. Coincidentally, he was an airline’s CIO, who was also returning from the conference. During our conversation, I spring up the question - “Has your airline prioritized cloud adoption?”. And that was the start of an intense discussion around the different challenges in aviation industry and how cloud-based solutions could be used to solve them. A productive repartee that left me with a lot of food for thought.
?
When I got back to the office the following Monday, I took my thoughts to the team. It really didn’t come as much of a surprise that my peers who were at the conference were also on the same page. The question now was, “how could we use our technological capabilities, expertise and experiences to craft customized cloud-based tools for airlines and airports on the cloud?”.
?
The next step was to identify the pain points of the airline industry. From climbing costs to talent shortage, rising consumer demands and the impact of the industry on climate change and sustainability, we explored the different problems that we could help solve, the experiences we could create and the potential outcomes we could deliver.
?
And this… was the genesis of the Infosys Cobalt Airline Cloud. Powered by Infosys Cobalt, it’s a model office that will help airlines tap into new opportunities and new efficiencies, new experiences and new directions.
?
Flash forward to today. We’re about to head to Lisbon for 2023’s edition of the World Aviation Festival. Infosys is a silver sponsor of the event, and it’s where we will take our innovative solutions to the decision makers of our industry. I eagerly anticipate the conference, and the insights that lie in wait. This time around, I’ll be participating in a panel discussion along with thought leaders like Xavier Lagardere , Tara Mulrooney , Andrew E. and Tristan Thomas with Linda Fox .
?
Looking forward to the event.
I’ll see you there?

India's No.1 Corporate Standup Comedian, ex Investment Banker, No I won't get back to you
1 年Mitrankur Majumdar I used to head marketing for a company that was 1 of only 2 companies globally in the in-flight entertainment (IFE) games & content space. This was back in 2009-10 when wireless connectivity from seat to head-end, integration of Personal Entertainment Devices (PEDs) to the IFE screens and in-flight internet were just taking off. Would love to know more about what has changed in the last decade and how cloud based solutions are being implemented in the IFE space. Your post reminds me of the annual exhibition of the global IFE industry which was always a fun but hectic time at the company. Wishing you all the best!
