Where Does Detroit Stand in the Literate Cities Rank?
I am back again with my latest post. This time we look at the most literate cities in the country and rank Detroit and the State of Michigan in terms of college attainment. While the news, as one would expect, is not good...it helps to know where we are starting to get an idea of how far we have to go.

5 年It's more than a perception of Detroit (and Michigan) as a manufacturing center where education is, at best, secondary.? There is still a heritage from the decades following World War II when well-paying jobs could be had at age 16 with only a modicum of education.? Despite at least 40 years where this has no longer been true, education is still not valued by a large number of Michigan residents.? Evidence?? Look to the Legislature where legislation and policies designed to undermine education, shift funding away from education, and overall disrespect for educators from kindergarten to the graduate school level.? I moved to Michigan in 1974 to raise my kids when this state was still known for a reasonably good educational system.? Not anymore!
