Where Do I Start in DevOps? A Guide from My Journey.

I often get asked, “Where do I start in DevOps?” or “How did you win an award in this field?” It’s a question I enjoy answering because it opens up the conversation around what DevOps really means and how different pathways can lead to success.

I began my career on the hardware track and was very much an amateur developer. Transitioning into infrastructure, then moving into monitoring, was my first exposure to the full software development lifecycle. It gave me a foundational understanding that would become key later on.

I realised that DevOps is critical in bridging the gap between development and operations. By analysing processes and automating repetitive tasks, DevOps makes life easier for everyone involved, speeding up development cycles and ensuring more efficient workflows.
