Where do the best Ideas come from?

As a system developer, I get asked repeatedly “how do you come up with your ideas?” I think most of us will have heard the phrase - necessity is the mother of invention.
I personally like to believe that in this microwave (instant result) generation it tends to be laziness or minimal input required, “What do you mean?” You may be asking. Simply put, if a device, system or process requires too many steps or is complex then people will not invest the time to use it!
When I developed the patented ProPod RFID Stores Solution I had one thing in mind.....KISS (Keep It Simple Stupid!) if people don’t get it without any or minimal training then I have failed.
The original idea for the ProPod came to me when I worked for Cromwell Tools Technology department (CSS) when I was asked by a production manager at the Siemens plant in Lincoln “these vending machines are great but can you do anything for the accuracy of our main stores” of course at the time there wasn’t, but I’m happy to say there is now!
