Where did the Banks Service to it's Customer Go ??

I'm talking about how long it take to get a payment cleared into your bank account. In the recent past you could get an immediate clearance, and the funds where in your account the same day, but that option has disappeared. So, I asked the question to some friends and others in business, and we came to a conclusion. The issue is not with my bank, but with all the banks, so how do we start asking them what happens during the 48 hours minimum time period, that they sit with our money, while it's being cleared. Can you come up with some answers, as I didn't sign up for the changes, or the delays. What answers do you have that can solve the issue .... or is there more to the story ....
