Where it all started
2002 - 2023

Where it all started

et me take you back to March?2002, when my husband of just a year, rang me at work and asked

"How would you like to go to France?"

Slightly baffled, I answered,

"Haven't we already planned a holiday there in the summer?"

He replied ...

"Not to visit ... to live!"

After the initial shock, I said, "hell yes!" as?I was up for a new challenge, having grown out of the company I was working for and was already looking for a new direction.?

I couldn't have predicted the years ahead though!?

.....

In a nutshell, we moved?to France, then Switzerland, then the US, back to France - It was an adventure that included both business and family start-ups!

In 2002, I started working online based out of the house you see in the photo, an OG Digital Nomad, with the painfully slow dial-up access!

....

Right from the beginning, design and strategy were at the core of my services as I taught myself the new internet tools, from websites to social platforms.

....

Jumping forward to?2015, we decided as a family to "try the UK again", returning with our two children to experience England for the first time as citizens.

I won't lie, re-entering into British society was tough,?we had changed and so had the UK.

And although I had set?up a business each time I unpacked life with my family somewhere new, I thought this time, as there were no visa issues,?getting a job could be the easiest option to getting established fast.

As starting a business takes time. And energy.

So one rainy Monday morning, I walked past a marketing agency that I had seen was hiring, and saw rows and rows of computers.?

??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ???

The mere thought of sitting in that space?made my heart plummet to the floor, and in that moment I knew that?I was never going to be able to work?in an environment like that.

I WANTED?TO?WORK TO LIVE?RATHER THAN LIVE TO WORK.

Since?2010, I had been following the rise of online business coaches who served?many clients globally from their?home. This excited me and was the direction I had dreamed of.

  • Technology had now made this possible not just for us digital nerds but for clients everywhere to connect and attend sessions with ease.

As an introvert and Highly Sensitive Person, I have always been very aware of how I need to manage my energy to perform as my best self. Ignoring this aspect has led to burnout and flunking exams I was predicted to ace.

Switching to working online, and serving at scale?meant I would have complete control over my schedule and would not have a fixed income ceiling that traditional service providers face.?

Not only that,?I could teach others how to design their own business?and take control of their content, messaging and design for themselves signature offers that they can serve at scale.?

  • Barriers to access were crumbling?and I wanted to help others shine online and find their audience, wherever they were in the world.?

But I found myself struggling?to grow the new online coaching business in the following years, as I joined many online programmes all promising the world, with many under-delivering.

The best ones I felt seen and heard by the coach, they knew my name and called upon me in group sessions to share.?The worst left me leaving fast and wishing I'd never invested.

I wasn't progressing as fast as I wanted to, and?I realised I was falling into the?constant creation trap:

>>> I was constantly coming up with ideas but I wasn’t giving them long enough to develop.

Nothing was gaining traction and I was also attracting the wrong people. I was shooting myself in the foot and I knew it.?I was missing something vital.
