There is an interesting article in the latest VETR newsletter regarding the decline of RTOs. The information is below:
Since 2011, the number of registered vocational training providers has been in steady decline. Is this decline accelerating?
In recent months, the total number of RTOs has fallen below 4,500 providers. In coming weeks this is expected to drop below 4,400 for the first time in a decade.
Will we have less than 4,000 providers by the end of 2018?
What is causing the decline?

6 年There have been a lot of conspiracy theories that ASQA are trying to reduce the number of RTO’s I have always dismissed these ! BUT ! Since ASQA took over 50% of the original number of RTO’s have ceased to exist (whilst a lot of new ones have made up the numbers) Now new ones will find it harder to start up and add to scope (making them financially unviable) Asqa’s Audit model is flawed Their fees are excessive ! The end is near for many smaller RTO’s I believe we need a national regulator (NARA were awesome) and it is now where I find myself saying I wish queensland DET were still the Regulator

6 年My guess would be the sheer weight of the paperwork and documentation required to operate as an RTO.
