Naturally, I'd always take it if I can find an easier way to accomplish a task. Technology allows for this on a whole other level. I have grown to be a massive fan of automation and its capabilities. Currently, whenever I am doing a series of repeatable tasks, my head just keeps asking if that task can be automated. It's amazing how automation can increase productivity and improve the quality of delivery if and when it's done right.

As a startup, resources are scarce and thus human labour should be reserved for the tasks that truly cannot be accomplished without human input available. If a task is repetitive and consumes a lot of time, It's always important to ask yourself that beautiful one-line question: "Can this be automated?". For some tasks, it will be possible for you to easily automate, for others, you will need help from someone with the skills whether it's programming, developing some type of equipment etc.

Automation is always a good way to increase productivity and efficiency in completing manual tasks. Asking myself questions on how to increase efficiency and consulting the amazing team at Techtenum on what would potentially be the best ways to handle tasks has become part of my process when handling tasks at work.

At times, it's good to be lazy because it allows you to find creative ways to accomplish tasks. But even before laziness takes over, always seat back and ask yourself if there could be better ways to tackle the tasks ahead of you.

To provide an example, let's say I need to file a thousand sheets of paper. Before I begin the task, I would consider a few questions. Firstly, do I want to take a break and engage in some mindless activity? Secondly, what is the most efficient way to complete the task? Could I find a machine or service that could file the papers quickly and inexpensively? Or, alternatively, is there a technique or method that I could use to speed up my filing rate? By considering these questions, I could approach the task in a more strategic and efficient manner or proceed to fill one at a time if I need a break and filling the papers will provide it.
