POLICIES, PROCESSES, SYSTEMS AND CONTRACTS.....
Why have policies, processes, systems and contracts in place in your practice if you are going to budge on it each time a team member feels uncomfortable about it or questions it or challenges it...?
It is not going to lead to anything good.
Budging on it will just show people that YOU yourself doubt it and in response you will have more and more team members start to ignore the practice policies, processes and systems and decide not to adhere to their contracts......
Which will probably leave you feeling frustrated and resentful.....
But let's be honest...
It is your own doing because you budged!
So just stop all the bloody SELF-DOUBT.
You already KNOW that you....
- did the research (like hours and hours of it)
- learnt (multiple times over) why it is the way it is
- checked that it is all ethical
- ensured that it is best practice
- ensured that it is evidenced based
- trialed it and found it to work
- had your legal person OK it
So again, just stop the bloody SELF-DOUBT.
You know your stuff.
You know what you are doing.
Giving in to constant challenges from your team is YOU reinforcing THEIR anxiety about something in it - and you can't be doing it - it won't stop and it won't end well.
So educate them on the 'why' of it all and if they still object YOU need to get comfortable with THEM sitting in uncomfortableness - and if they can't handle it, well then I think they need to start listening to the advice they normally give their own clients.
Here's to you knowing your s&%t!
Yours in Private Practice Success,
Gerda
