When your team is awesome

I've asked our team to join me in the Chopper Challenge 50k's a Day for the Month of May. I wasn't sure what to expect, a commitment to exercising for a full month is a big ask, especially when many have families to raise.
What has been wonderful, is that we have a solid crew of 15 who stepped up and are committing to 5k a day for the month. We have a whiteboard in the lunch room, documenting everyone's commitment, tracking their total kilometers achieved. A variety of exercise is being undertaken; running, walking, rowing, biking, and swimming. Fundraising is happening too.
The conversation in the office, and lunchroom has changed. It's about how we've surprised ourselves, not about making the time, but how it is just happening. They're finding their previous excuses for not exercising isn't happening, that it was the jolt they needed to re-establish a routine.
How often is this the case when we run our business. We get into the habit of not doing something because it requires an effort, or it interrupts what we would rather be doing. What is the one thing in your business you know you should be doing, but its on the round-to-it list? How about we plan to create action, a commitment everyday for the month of June?
In the meantime, while you are pondering, consider making a donation to the Findex HeliRaisers https://givealittle.co.nz/fundraiser/findex-heliraisers to help keep our team motivated, and to help us raise funds for the Nelson Marlborough Rescue Helicopter Trust. Thank you to the support of Paula Muddle, General Manager NMRHT.
