"When your supplier fails, it’s your reputation that's on the line"

One of my clients was on the brink of losing a massive opportunity to tender for a high-value long term project with one of their key customers.

The problem?

Supplier issues were dragging them down:

? Missed deadlines

? Inconsistent quality

? No trust in their ability to deliver

The stakes couldn’t have been higher, so they brought me in to urgently assess and resolve the root causes at the supplier site.

Here’s what I found:

?? Misaligned production schedules that caused delays

?? Poor communication between supplier and customer, making production management close to impossible

?? Zero performance metrics in place to track performance, reliability or progress

??? No Root Cause Corrective Action method in place

We turned it around by:

1?? Implementing clear processes so production schedules were lined up

2?? Introduced and tracked KPIs to measure and improve supplier performance

3?? Building a collaborative plan with the supplier to address root cause issues and capacity challenges and build trust

The results?

? On-time deliveries skyrocketed from 65% to 98% in just 4 months!

? Trust was restored over time and the supplier was re-positioned as a ‘ship to stock’ reliable partner

? not only did the client save the existing relationship, but they also secured the chance to tender for the new project

Have you ever had to rescue a failing supplier? What worked for you?
