Not if, but when your Organizations is diagnosised with Cancer!!

My mother was diagnosed with Breast Cancer when I was a young boy and although I did not know the implications at that time, I just knew "Mom" was sick. Neighbors, friends, and family started showing up bringing my family and I dinner and asking if we were okay. At that time, I was thankful for them yet was enjoying the attention, bountiful foods and deserts......at least for the first week.

Then, I realized what I wanted was my mom back and was starting to be mad that she was sick. No, not at my mother, yet at the Cancer.....and how could such a disease wreck my family and not to mention the best Mother in the World. Life served me a tough lesson, bad things happen to good people.

Fast forward some 35 years later, and guess what, Corporations around the World are realizing that they have a culture of Cancer with no cure in sight.  These Organizations are also doing bad things to good people by not utilizing their buying force collectively.  Worse, yet we have the Millenniums entering the workforce and they have no allegiance for you or your organization. There is no gold watch and thus a financial, physical, emotional, mental, and happy employee is not only essential to your ROI it is Critical!

Charles Deming utilized a Total Quality Management (TQM) System to increase productivity, quality, and safety however now we are so distracted by technology with a workforce that just doesn't care about longevity......thus how can we change the behavior of this workforce.

Here are 3 simple steps to increase retention, engagement, productivity, quality, & safety in your Organization through offering products/services that truly help your Employees. So remember these three items:

2) Mobile

3) Savings

A great example is like a flu shot this is brought to your office, employees are allowed to get the shot any time, and it's free or for a reduced rate. There are many types of new products/services being brought to HR professionals every day.

So whether, Corporations by diagnosis or process improvement decide to assist employees in their overall financial wellness really doesn’t matter. As the fact remains that if we improve the employees ROI then in kind so does the businesses ROI.

Therefore, as businesses see the value of helping both Corporations and Employees which is ultimately driving behaviors through process improvements not only within the brick and mortar yet now extending into the true reasons what motivate employees......Money; as that truly is Financial Wellness!!

Great article, Brad. The problems run deeper than just corporate America. It's where the cancer is being diagnosed, but the root of the issue stems from raising the latest generation in the self-esteem movement. Our children have been taught that the same reward awaits regardless of how hard they work. The disease is lack of skill coupled with no desire to change, because they've been told that they are perfect exactly the way they are.

Great article Brad Marston. I think there is more to it. When an organization loses its focus/purpose and its soul it's nearly impossible for it to fight off the infections that constantly bombard it. It inevitably succumbs to one illness after another until total organ failure signals the death of a once great organization.
