But, wait it turns out that things are not exactly the way you planned them to be. As a matter of fact, you are not really enjoying to work here. It is turning out to be a bad dream. Everything you had thought about doing and getting here is turning out to be a nightmare.

So, what to do now? Quit? That’s the first answer that comes to mind. But, no that’s not the solution. When your dream job starts turning into a nightmare, you need to be calm and follow a simple approach.

Let us take a look at what that approach is -

Is it the job or is it you?

To find solution for a problem, you need to understand it first. That’s why you ought to first of all get to the bottom of why you are not liking the job. Does it have something to do with your personal expectations? Are you unable to gel-in? Is it because the processes are new for you? Or, is there something wrong with the work culture that you don’t find alright?

Think over it and analyze all the factors. Most of the times, the problem lies in our expectations. There can be times when somehow you have your own perceptions, while the job requires you to do something else in the beginning. In such a scenario you end up hating your job. Although there is no such reason.

Talk to someone you trust

An advice from a friend can be the best remedy to this problem. A person who knows you might be able to offer you a different perspective of looking at things. Sometimes those little words of encouragement are enough to help you come out of these things.

It is human tendency to get into a negative frame of mind, and then everything seems negative. A trustworthy friend can help you overcome this negative mindset and look at things in a positive way. And that can get you back on track in your dream job.

Jot down all the possible solutions

Now that you have assessed the situation, and have some possible reasons why all this negativity is happening, it is time to move towards the solution phase. What this means is that you need to jot down the possible areas that need to be worked upon.

If the problem lies in the way you perceive things you need to start working on changing those thoughts. If you think there is some lack of understanding between you and the team, then think of ways to solve it. For instance, talking to the manager about it can be the first thing. Or, you can even get in touch with the HR department to see if they can find a possible solution for the same.

Every problem has a solution, you just need to know where to find it.

Give it one last shot

When things start to go wrong, you can quite easily start to think of quitting the job. But, whenever that thought comes remember this thing - you have worked so hard to reach until this point. Would you not want to give it just one last shot?

It might be difficult, but so is life. And difficulties bring out the true character of a person. So before quitting give it one last shot with full thrust. Don’t let situations take over this time, rather try to take control of them. Stay positive, try to make things work out and trust me 9 out of 10 times you will end up loving your job.

According to my definition, a dream job would be the one, where I get to do what I like to, not the one that pays well, Priority number one : What I would love to do, priority two : the pay.
