As You Close This Chapter...
As you close this chapter that’s 2020 what have you discovered, learned, and gathered in your basket? As I looked back over this last year, I first asked myself if I would be looking back to see what I lost on this journey or what I gained as I’m a strong believer that you’re sure to find whatever it is you’re looking for.
During my devotional time this morning I read about how Paul, even in prison, was praising God and taking time to think about all he was grateful for. Though it may seem silly that in your darkest and most challenging hour you would celebrate your blessings and wins with gratitude and thanks, that’s exactly what I invite you to do!
We’ve all lost a lot in 2020, and when I focus on that it only brings me down and urges me to curl even further into myself. However, when I make a conscious effort to shift my focus to this year’s blessings, I find my heart overflows with gratitude and gives me more energy to serve others.
The list of things I’m grateful for this year includes more time with my family, joy found in simple abundance by getting rid of 90% of our material belongings, our first Thanksgiving hosted by our daughter in her new home, our first Christmas hosted by our oldest, new friends, new clients, and two weeks to rest, work, and retreat in Florida.
While Greg and I eagerly flipped the page not knowing what and where our future would take us, there’s still been so much to be grateful for. As we close 2020, I encourage you to focus on the blessings and gifts you’ve been given. While we may not know what the future will hold, we have this moment in time to choose gratitude, hope, and perseverance!
