When You Reach Saturation Point with Social Media

When You Reach Saturation Point with Social Media

What do you do when you're feeling at saturation point with social media?

If you're using social media to build your business, it can feel like we have to be online ALL. THE. TIME.

But the recent changes announced by Facebook are enough to give us all pause for thought. It is now becoming way more commonplace to openly acknowledge that excessive social media use doesn't make anyone feel good.

My business philosophy is that I always want to get the maximum gain from the minimum effort. And I help my clients to do the same. That doesn't mean overcharging and under-delivering. It's actually about doing the RIGHT things and STOPPING when you've done enough. Creating a sustainable pace in your business and showing up consistently.

And I think it's really important to also apply this to our social media usage.

Are you online so much that it's affecting your offline relationships?

Have your friends and family started to make comments about it?

How do the things you read and engage with online make you feel?

When was the last time you unplugged completely from social media for more than a few hours?

Are you making consistent sales as a result of your social media activity or are you doing 'busy work' that isn't materialising into anything productive for your business?

Social media and the internet more broadly have changed the world in amazing ways. But there can also be a darker side.

Be intentional online and stop when you need some breathing space.

I've taken the decision to delete social media apps off my phone for a while and have a few focused social media slots in my day, free from notifications and breaking the habit of grazing on social media.

What are your favourite ways to get the right balance between time online and offline?

This is a brillliant article Jessica and definitely good for thought. I’m afraid I’m probably guilty of being online too much and find it quite difficult to switch off from it. I did have a whole day off on Sunday though which was really lovely ??
