When will you [fill in the blank]?

If you're anything like me and most of the people I know, then you probably have a mental list of things that you would like to do, plan to do, hope to do someday, etc.

Today, I invite you to check something off of this list. Think of something that has been hanging over your head. Something that you know you have to do. Or something that you know you should do because it will help you progress toward one of your goals. Get clear on what you want to choose.

Then, ask yourself, when will you [fill in the blank]? Assign a date and a time. Ask a friend to check up on you and make sure you did it.

There is something magical about positive momentum. Sometimes even the smallest accomplishment can set larger gears in motion. This week, I hope that you schedule a quick win.

Who knows? Once the wheels start turning, you might just schedule another.

Self-reflection:

What is on your running "maybe someday to-do" list?

Why haven't you done it already?

How will you do it? How long will it take you to do it?

When will you [fill in the blank]?

Great points, Maura. For many of us, if we can just *start* a task or project, things are off and running from there. ...and as a (somewhat) humorous aside, Tim Urban's TED Talk "Inside the mind of a master procrastinator" is a hilarious yet poignant masterpiece that resonates for me! Definitely worth a watch if one hasn't seen it.

Folks are inundated with tasks. Bucketing our TO DO list into critical to do now vs get around to later is a constant battle for many folks, myself included. Absent someone creating a 28 hour (or longer) daily clock, we’re left to prioritize as best we can. I’d love to find an elegant way to triage the barrage.
