I had a moment last week. Our staff had just gotten off our weekly brainstorm-style 'walk & talk' call, my inbox was buzzing, a new San Francisco Hour of Action officially landed on the calendar, and Slack notifications were pinging with news of policy advocacy progress. And I just thought, "Wow. This is impressive."
In a few fast years, Climate Changemakers has grown to a nationwide network of over 8,000 members in all 50 states. Folks used our online resources over 28,000 times in 2023 to advocate for climate progress. We have proof of changemaker advocacy directly shaping policy decisions at every level of government. And about 60% of advocates in the Climate Changemakers network had never done anything like this before joining us. And they're absolutely crushing it.
I hope you'll also take a minute to have your own moment! Look at your personal progress in your advocacy journey, and all the opportunities at your fingertips to start leveling up. Simply pick a place to show up this week—in one of the Action Playbooks or at one of our ongoing action events (scroll down for what's happening this week, or check our website anytime at climatechangemakers.org/events). Showing up is what makes all this possible.
Thanks for leaning in and rolling up your sleeves with us,
Eliza Nemser, PhD , Co-founder & Executive Director, Climate Changemakers
PS. Another reason I'm soaking in the awesomeness of this advocacy network is because Climate Changemakers is officially ready to hire a full-time organizer! If this could be you, please apply here; if this could be someone in your network, please help us cast a wide net by amplifying our LinkedIn post.
PPS. Sorry no food puns; they're simmering and will be back next week.

NEW RESOURCE ALERT ?? Contact Your Governor
Think of your governor like the “president” of your state—they lead your state’s executive branch and direct all of its agencies. Like presidents, governors can’t initiate legislation, but they have wide-ranging regulatory authority and are powerful influencers on state legislators, mayors, and federal elected officials.?
?NEW playbook! ???Check it out.
ONE WAY TO BREAK BREAD ?? Frame it as: politically feasible
Values vary, and people are motivated by different framings of the same policy issue. One way to talk about food waste: political feasibility. Composting, relative to other decarbonization methods, has largely avoided partisan framing and is viewed more neutrally. Food waste reduction incentives have been enacted by both red and blue states.?
