When Writing Your Book, Think Ten Years from Now

When Writing Your Book, Think Ten Years from Now

The Empire Builders Summit is still going strong! Need ideas and inspiration? See the P.S. below.

An entire decade, you say?

Yes, yes, I do.

Writing and publishing a solid book isn’t a box on your to do list you just check off and then get on with your day.

Whew, that’s done. Now, on with our regularly scheduled program.

Nope, nope, nope.

A solid book is a work horse. It is an asset that goes where you cannot go, connecting you with people you would otherwise not meet. It’s the milkshake that brings new clients to your yard!

Done well, your book can bring you royalties (yes, lots of royalties). It can also be repurposed into keynote presentations, courses, coaching, consulting, companion products (like journals or workbooks or planners), and so much more. (I’ll talk about that “more” business in the days to come.)

When you’re crafting your book, it’s not just the content of the actual book that matters. What matters more is the impact it makes on the readers, and how it can be repurposed to help even more people.

That is a win-win-win. You win, you’re the author. Your readers win. The greater good wins.

I’m a sucker for a big win-win-win.

Take some time to pencil out the other forms your knowledge and expertise can take outside of the book. Think ten years in the future.

Just five years in, You Must Write a Book is not just a book, it’s a mini-empire that consists of a book, companion workbook, two courses [1 and 2], a mastermind, and even a bespoke service for folks who want to be authors but have more time than money.

Then take the time you need to take to pencil out what could be, and invest what you need to invest, to put out the absolute highest quality product you can.

Then, get to work creating multiple income streams (I can help with that) starting with getting that book done!

A decade from now, the book you’re working on today can stand as the genesis for the empire you’ve built. I, for one, am really excited to see what you create!

Seriously, it’s free to attend, just go here. And, if you’ve watched any of the interviews so far, press reply and tell me what you think!

Exactly! And to prove and support some of your points let me look back ten years to when I started my first book, The Golf Rules-Stroke Play. That led to presentations, interviews on satellite and terrestrial radio, regular columns in golf magazines, and a variety of other published titles, to name a few. I can see so many other opportunities for the next ten years, too, and am looking forward to new adventures!

I could not agree more and I learned this from you. I was just telling a new author friend to remember this is a marathon, not a sprint. It has been 16 months since I published my book and I'm still marketing and building every day. It's a journey!
