When We Listen Everyone Grows
John Chappelear
Private Coaching for the Entrepreneur or CEO who has attained great success but life still sucks. Is the life you built worth the price you paid? Mine wasn't. Let's forge an emotionally fulfilling path together.
People want to create a sense of change, have input, and feel a sense of connection. They want to add value and feel valued. As leaders, if we learn how to listen with intent and allow others to contribute we are able to grow a stronger and more profitable organization.?
One of the CEOs I coached the other day was expressing how his employees didn't listen. He said, "They don't ask any questions, they don't ask me anything. They just barge ahead.?
I said, "How many times have you asked them a question, rather than told them what to do? How many times have you asked for their input on another way to do something??
If you don't ask any questions, then the assumption is that you're the best person who has ever done this job, and who will ever do this job.”?
That seems a little egocentric to me.?
As leaders when we ask, rather than tell, we easily bring others into the conversation. This creates a sense of connection where people feel valued for their input and experience.
Do you agree??
Leave me a comment, I’d love to know.
