When we bring more people to the table — we build a better table!

When we bring more people to the table — we build a better table!

As Women’s History Month comes to a close, and diversity and inclusion remain central to the conversations we’re having at Insight about our company’s culture, we’re finding that we’re collectively beginning to adopt this mindset: When we bring more people to the table — we build a better table!

Digital transformation is a conversation we have with our clients and it’s not unlike the culture transformation happening within organizations. At its core, it challenges how an organization operates and the value you bring to your clients. When you reshape your organization, you reimagine how you do business. And in today’s world, technology can accelerate that change. But this requires a different mindset. You’ve got to think about how to do things, what people’s roles should be as changes come online, and how to get people comfortable with embracing those changes. Here at Insight, we’ve gotten really good at using organizational change management practices and processes like Agile to help our clients and their teams welcome new ways of thinking and working over time.

It’s not all that different when an organization is dedicated to transforming its culture.  Your people need to be at the heart of these conversations. Their voices need to be heard so teammates are in lockstep with the company’s vision (and vice versa). And there’s a lot of reimagining how teams work together and embrace diversity and inclusion in their day-to-day work. This results in more ideas, more interesting dialogue and frankly, more wins.

As we discuss women in technology, we know there’s still a lot of progress to be made. According to research by Catalyst, whose mission is to “accelerate progress for women through workplace inclusion,” boards of technology companies are making progress, yet there remains a lack of overall gender diversity in the global STEM workforce.

If you’re in a room surrounded by like-minded people, there’s no way you can challenge the status quo. And without challenging the status quo, you can’t thrive and meet the changing needs of your clients.

Insight was recently recognized for having one of the most gender-diverse executive teams in tech in 2021. We see change happening in our industry and are proud of the role Insight is playing. We’re also a corporate sponsor of The WIT Network, and we’re dedicated to empowering women. You can learn more in this blog, “Insight Empowers Women Arm-in-Arm with The WIT Network.”

Like digital transformation, diversity in the workplace challenges your beliefs, practices and assumptions (as an individual and as a business). It brings a company out of its comfort zone, but the growing pains usually lead to better outcomes and greater relevancy, creating a more vibrant organization with which clients, workers and the community want to engage. There isn’t a switch we can flip for this transformation, but we can flip the switch of our mindset. Let’s bring more and different people to the table. We’ll no doubt build a better table.

Agreed...The more perspectives at the table the better the outcome.
