WHEN THE USTA BOARD CREATES VICTIMS OF SEXUAL ABUSE. By Javier Palenque

For many years, I have called for the resignation of the USTA board. They adhere to the formula of “ignoring the noise,” believing that by doing so, nothing will change, allowing them to maintain their exclusive nasty club. This flawed mindset permeates every aspect of the sport they oversee, leading to numerous issues:

• Misallocation of funds
• Underfunding of the USTA Foundation
• Internal politicization
• Rewarding incompetent employees
• Solidifying an inept culture
• Poor sports performance
• Massive annual waste of funds
• Lack of accountability and lying about all aspects of the sport

When a "Banana Republic" culture is promoted, proper decisions are inevitably neglected, allowing this dysfunctional environment to thrive. The "Old Boys' Club" acts as petty tyrants would, defending their mistakes at all costs ($180M in losses to Covid, Selling the Cincinnati Open, Legal fees in millions, etc).

The entire board must be removed from the sport to prevent further damage to the sport and our youth. Their collective mentality that the status quo is acceptable is deeply troubling and proved mistaken.

Mr. Chairman of the Board and CEO, let me make it clear: this is NOT acceptable. The low level of thinking and the nefarious culture you promote and protect create victims, including:

The sport

The parents

The kids

When the board prioritizes its protection over the well-being of our youth, it is a crime. I urge you to listen to the podcast by Lisa Stone, a treasure in American tennis- Parenting Aces Podcast, where she interviews a victim of the status quo. She also shares many links to more information on this horrendous sexual abuse cover-up situation.

Please take the time to listen to the podcast, I hope you conclude that it is time for the CEO and board to resign. They are a danger to our youth.

Let me be unequivocally clear, I want them all out!
