When the US Open is better than the Masters - No redemption for the Villain and - is LAGCC an Augusta National wannabe?
Unless you are ready to sign a blatant lie in a loud voice, you as a Golfer will need to confess that the dream of everyone who gravitates around this crazy sport is Winning a Green Jacket at the Masters.
However, today I am planning to share a [probably] very unpopular thought. I believe that even though winning the Green Jacket is a game changer in your professional and personal career as Golfer, winning one of the Two Opens either the US Open or the Open Championship makes you the best player in the world at least at this moment of time.
We all saw the drama of Ricky Fowler, Matt Kutchar and others at the Valero Open in San Antonio trying to fight for a spot in the upcoming Closed Shop the week after.
It is true that an Invitational, Augusta National does a terrific job inviting the best of the best, but there is always a chance no matter how small that one player who lives outside Top 50 Town can clinch a fantastic week and lift the trophy on Sunday.
For that little reason, I think that the US Open in this opportunity is the tournament that gave the chance to anyone …[yes anyone] in the world who believes that they got what it takes to get in and put up a fights against the best.
Call me romantic if you like but in weeks like the previous one is when you can be 100% certain that nobody can beat you in that course.
Rory Oh Rory!
It's been nine years since Rory McIlroy won his last Major Tournament.
Something that I would call statistically very improbable given his quality. Meaning betting against him on every upcoming Major would represent a contrarian strategy in my books.
But it is not the dryness in titles that is helping Rory to make waves lately. Is his strong stance on the PGA - LIV Golf drama.
He has been very vocal in saying that all of those that defect to LIV should never be allowed to play at the PGA Tour again. Some may even venture to say that he has been the month's puppet of the PGA Tour Board.
But now with the advent of the merger between both tours, he is getting cornered into a position when he is disliked by some LIV players for his antigenic words and disrespect by his fellow PGA Tour players.
I found it particularly incredible that with all the pressure flying over him, he found the focus to play an outstanding US Open.

He finished Second, so No redemption for him…just not yet!
Congrats to Wyndham Clark. Well deserved it after a flawless four round and an amazing family story.
Is the LAGCC an Augusta National wannabe??
Sorry no sorry if this subheading sounds too harsh. This is a safe space for all Golf lovers and curious to experiment with any opinion.
Do you think that the LAGCC went too far in copying the strict rules?that Augusta National imposes for patrons during the tournament week?
No phones, no noise , no nothing pretty much in the voice of some.
Even some players expressed their dislike for the place and said that they prefer other venues.
However, there are a couple of things I would like to say in defence of the “Over the Top” rules.
In the words of someone I trust a lot and who has visited Augusta twice in his life (Hey Greg!) , the general focus (thanks to no phones) of everyone while lining up at the concession stand and other bottleneck areas of the course helps to expedite and improve the experience.
At the end who wants to waste 90 minutes in a line to get a Beer and a Snack while the real action is happening out there?
Final words about the place… The fact that LAGCC is in ..well LA helps a lot with the logistics of both players and patrons. Unlike Augusta GA, Los Angeles is one of the largest cities in the world with plenty of Accomodation for all Budgets.
I would love to hear your thoughts on this Golf Course.
Yours in Golf.

1 年LACC predates Augusta (no G). Membership criteria are probably stricter for LACC. The USGA has wanted LACC for at least 45 years. The flow is not really good for tournament golf hence the need to limit the number of patrons.
