When Two Worlds Collide - ADHD & Criminal Justice

I set up this newsletter to share the good news, the great people & the organisations making a difference in the world.
I'll admit, I didn't think I'd be writing about innovation and progressive work going on in The Met Police. But a few months ago, I started to hear about what Daley Jones (and Carl Mumford) were up to, and it sounded fascinating.
I managed to grab an hour of Daley's time and had all my preconceptions blown away. We speak about his ADHD journey, why founding The ADHD Alliance has been so important, and what the future holds for policing & ADHD. It was one of the most eye-opening conversations I've had in a long time (in general, not just for the podcast!) and you can listen here.
The ADHD Alliance are first National ADHD association dedicated to supporting ADHD in all of the emergency services. The Alliance was set up by a group of police officers who wanted to change how ADHD is supported in the workplace and within the criminal justice system. We quickly realised there was a need for support throughout blue light services, so the ADHD Alliance was born.
Sarah Templeton first pointed me in their direction, and I'm eternally grateful she did. She's a force of nature, and set up ADHD Liberty to push ADHD screening in police stations, young offender units, probation and prisons.
I've mentioned before the pilot to screen for ADHD in police stations, but you can read more about it here - https://www.cityoflondon.police.uk/news/city-of-london/news/2023/may/city-of-london-police-first-in-the-country-to-screen-suspects-for-adhd/
Finally, if you want to share the great work you, or your organisation, is doing around neurodiversity & ADHD, please do drop me a message.
